On the offensive end Al Harrington is almost the total package. He can create his own shot (which is a rare on this Knicks team) and in the post he can score in the low box with a spin move, or by shooting a nice fadeaway. Not to mention he has a nice bank shot. He is a player that can drive hard going left or right. Pick your poison. Al Harrington finished the year being the Knicks leading scorer with 20 points. Without a doubt he can return to those numbers. However, as a leader he has to show that he is also willing to make good decisions as well as get it done on with passing, defense, rebounding, and and rallying his team. Here is what Al Harrington brings to the table this season: 1. Taking it to the rack going left and right. 2. Creating his own shot 3. Rebounding at the small forward spot 4. Guarding his man one-on-one without help from his teammates. 5. Getting it done whether playing halfcourt or uptempo game. 6. Posting up threat that the Knicks need especially with Eddy Curry being out. 7. Being an offensive weapon that can cause problems for opposing teams. 8. Demanding a double team. Whether you like him or not Harrington is the Knicks' best player. There is no one on the Knicks team that can that bring an offensive package like Al. So why not make him the team leader? Especially since he's capable of being vocal on the court and in the locker room. This is important for a team that is looking for veteran leadership. The season is just around the corner. We will see if the new Al Harrington has arrived.

It may be too early but I like what I am seeing from Al Harrington in preseason. So far it looks like he is ready for the challenge of being the Knicks leader. What I have seen from him so far is a guy that is not just playing offense but he is also back to playing hard defense like he did with the Pacers. Most importantly he is passing the ball. At a time when it looks like the Knicks are lacking a vocal leader Al Harrington can be that guy. Not to mention he can score. I have said it before and I will say it again, Al Harrington can be a weapon for the Knicks if he makes better decision and plays good for four quarters not only three.
