Forget Seven Seconds Or Less PDF Print E-mail

So Much For 7 Seconds or LessSo far so good for the Knicks in the month of December. Even though the month is not over the Knicks have been playing well and have been playing like a team. There could be several reasons as to why the Knicks are winning games. It could be due to Mike D’Antoni running a tight rotation with only eight players, or the fact that Chris Duhon and Wilson Chandler have been getting the job done on the court. At this point  I feel the main factor for the Knicks winning games is that Knicks’ Coach Mike D’Antoni has pretty much gotten rid of his 7 Seconds or Less strategy.  It may have taken Mike D’Antoni a while to realize that jacking up shots with a roster like the Knicks have right now may not be the way to go, however it is never too late.

With the Knicks recent winning streak the Knicks have been slowing up the pace. There has been little to almost no players just running down the court firing shots just  for the hell of it. The Knicks have been getting points by cutting to the basket, rotating the ball on the weak end of the court as well as to the strong side of the court. Last month you were lucky if  you saw the ball getting passed among two players in one possession. Now what we are witnessing are players passing the ball to the open man or until they see a good shot opportunity. Players are sharing the ball, moving around without the ball, setting picks, and playing team ball, and not a game of “21” at the park.

We already know the Knicks most deadly play is the pick and roll.  With the Knicks staying more committed to the halfcourt game this will bring out the best in players like Duhon and Chandler. So say  goodbye hopefully  to Second or Less (which was never a good idea with this group of players).
