“If I can walk I will play.” Those were the words of the Knicks leader Chris Duhon who in my opinion is the Knicks MVP this season. Some players look for an excuse to have the night off while Duhon wants to play every game. Duhon who was the Bulls third string backup is a gem and really the glue that is keeping this Knicks team together. Time and time again this warrior plays hurt and logs in a large amount of minutes and never complains. Fans constantly say I wish the new Knicks team had the toughness of the old Knicks team. Yet toughness and leadership is what Chris Duhon is all about. Duhon is a player that works hard in practice as well as in games and it shows. Mike D’Antoni said before the season that Duhon never gets tired. Well it sure looks that way with Duhon playing close to 40 minutes a game. Chris Duhon is not the loudest player on the team but he leads by example. Right now Duhon is one of the top assist leaders in the league. Duhon is tied in the assist department with Baron Davis and behind Jason Kidd. Not in a million years did fans and critics think that Duhon would be playing as good as he is. Duhon has already broke two Knicks records in foul line shooting and getting 22 assists in a game. Everyone thought when Mike D’Antoni thought about replacing Marbury with Duhon he was nuts. Now it looked like a great move. Duhon is not a flash point guard that gets some ooh’s and ahh’s from fans but he will run the offense and play solid defense on his man. His decision making in game situations is some of the best of the Knicks have seen in a long time. Whatever the team needs that night Duhon tries to deliver. There are nights that he racks up the points and takes over games like what Duhon did against the Bulls. There are also nights where he passes the ball like the second coming of Jason Kidd. If the Knicks did not sign Duhon in the offseason where would they be right now? Welcome to New York Chris Duhon a leader we have been waiting for. Tags:
