Big C) Knick fans, it’s time to get a grip. At this point in the game, why can't we just be satisfied with the Knicks team we have lined up for this season. I mean, clearly we are moving in the right direction.

For the last two years Knicks fans have waited and waited to get Lebron James to New York. The city was so obsessed with it that even our Mayor Bloomberg made a commercial to convince Lebron James to come to New York. And what happened? Lebron booked a flight plane to South Beach Florida.

So now the flavor of the year is Carmelo Anthony. Knicks fans are already creating the fantasy. Why do it to yourself? Do you really need the extra stress.

I'm on the sideline watching a pickup game --- they're over there talking about Melo, I'm having lunch at the spot --- she's over there talking about Melo, getting my haircut --- Melo, surfing the net --- Melo. Man! I feel like giving this city a 3 Stooges, "Snap out of it" chin check.

People may want something to happen but they can not "talk it into existence". The dust is just settling from the free-agency and the draft and so much could happen between now and next off-season. Carmelo Anthony is a married man with a child. Family comes first.

So when Carmelo thinks about coming to New York he has to be willing to lose millions of dollars just for the New York glamour. We are not talking about Melo going out to eat and struggling with which side order to get with his cheese burger. We are talking about Carmelo Anthony potentially losing more than 30 million dollars. Not to mention all the risk involved with the new Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) and a possible lockout.

Carmelo Anthony may like the Knicks, but like his wife said on Hot97, they also like Denver. And let’s be honest, you don’t have to play for the Knicks to get the benefits of New York. Just ask Steve Nash who spends his summers in New York. Anthony can jump on a plane to New York whenever the mood strikes him. That's what he's done for years.

So when you're just about ready to order your custom made Carmelo Anthony Knicks jersey, just think about Lebron in sunny Florida. Don’t just build your hopes so high that they eventually come tumbling down on top of you.

Let's say Melo does not come to New York. That is his decision to make and it does not mean I'm going to create a "Melo dart board" and start aiming darts at him. After all, don't we all think about ourselves and our families first.

So until we actually roll into the summer of 2011, look ahead at the team we're going to have this fall. We should all have learned a lesson from the Lebron James situation. As they say, if you do not learn from your mistakes, you are bond to repeat it. I wasn't upset about Lebron not coming to New York and I won't be upset if Carmelo also passes on the opportunity to play in New York.
