(Big C) Lance Stephenson, what was going through you mind? Just a short few weeks ago the Pacers took a risk and drafted you.

Now you are caught up in some situation where a woman is saying you threw her down a flight of stairs. We're not talking about a couple of steps, we're talking about a whole flight of stairs.

"NEW YORK — Indiana Pacers draft pick Lance Stephenson, after pushing his girlfriend down a flight of stairs, grabbed her and hit her head on the bottom step, prosecutors said Monday.

A judge released Stephenson, 19, without bail late Sunday night after his arrest on assault, menacing and harassment charges. Prosecutors had asked for $7,500 bail.

In a lengthy statement issued Monday, Pacers president Larry Bird called Stephenson's arrest "very disappointing to the Pacers franchise and to me personally." A defense attorney said Stephenson didn't harm his girlfriend.

Authorities say the confrontation occurred around 5 a.m. Sunday when the woman, Jasmine Williams, was returning home to her apartment building with two friends. Witnesses said Stephenson was waiting for her and yelled, "Are you kidding me?" before pushing her down the stairs."-Huffington Post

Another angle of the story said that he ran to her at the bottom of the staircase and proceeded to bash her head into the ground. If there's any truth to this story you deserve every bit of punishment that's coming your way, especially the jail justice you may get behind bars..

I understand that there are two sides to every story. But at this end of the day, if a woman is brutalized does it matter how the dispute started? I don’t care if she smacked the saliva clear out his mouth, for any man, the absolute best thing to do is to quickly walk away.

Men have to realize that there are so much more things at stake than just a broken ego. At the young age of 19, Stephenson already has a terrible rep. This is the main reason he did not get drafted in the first round. When a person already has public opinion stacked against them, they should also recognize that opportunities will rarely be offered to them.

Lance finally reached his dream of playing on an NBA team and we really don’t know how this is going to pan out. The Pacers may decide to buy out his contract tomorrow. Listen, I know Lance Stephenson is only 19, however you still have to be held accountable for your actions.

Abuse can be done by a man or woman. I get that. However, guys if you are in a relationship that you feel that the woman gets you so aggravated that you are reaching your breaking point, then it's time to get out of that relationship.

If leaving the relationship isn't as easy as it sounds then counseling is a must. Things like this have a tendency to snowball into other problems like losing your job and tearing families apart. Not to mention jail time.

To the women that may come across this blog post, I say this:

No one meets a guy and knows that he's abusive right from the start. It's not like he's going to say hello and punch you right in the face.

What typically happens is that these punk men will give you little clues (e.g. threats, insults, etc.) along the way. Either way, when you notice those clues... GET OUT. The sooner you leave, the easier it will be for you to leave, and all the better for you in the long term.
