According to a source, Knicks free agent center Earl Barron turned down an offer recently from Maccabi Tel Aviv because he's confident he will sign with an NBA team soon.

The Knicks showed interest in re-signing him, but because they overpaid for young Russian center Timofey Mozgov with a three-year, $9 million deal, brass ultimately has to see if he can contribute in his rookie year.

Nevertheless, if Mozgov has a poor World Championships for Russia, sources said they could revisit Barron before training camp if he's unsigned."-New York Post

I would not be surprised if Earl Barron gets invited to the Knicks training camp. Especially since the Knicks need a big man that can blocks shots and play in Mike D'Antoni's system.

Earl Barron proved that he has the  ability to do things last season.  At this point we don't know how long it will take Timofey Mozgov to make and adjustment to the NBA. For the Knicks, having Earl Barron as a back up plan would not hurt.

Now it's just up to Earl Barron to realize that the Knicks are not going to give him more than a 1 year deal. It's also up the Knicks to realize they do need an insurance plan if Mozgov and Eddy Curry are not ready to play next season.
