Knicks season preview(Big C) The Knicks season is finally getting ready to start and there are many things to look forward to. The Knicks have a new roster and high hopes for making the playoffs and bringing respectability back to New York. The fans and players are excited about the new attitude and the possibility of returning to the playoffs, a place the Knicks have not seen in a long time.

Amar’e Stoudemire

Over the summer the Knicks worked hard to try to bring in a superstar to the Big Apple. And sure enough the Knicks have acquired one of the biggest stars the league has to offer. There are only a few players in the league that have the ability to dominate the game on the offensive end like Amar’e Stoudemire.

On offense Amar’e can practically do it all. He can take just about any opponent off the dribble and score at will. He also has a jump shot that he can hit from 15 feet all day. At times it does not matter if it is single or a double team. Amar’e Stoudemire will find a way to score. So far Amar’e looks like he is in excellent condition for the Knicks and he can succeed in the up tempo game and in the halfcourt offense. For this season to be successful Amar’e has to step up his rebounding game and pass more out of the double and triple team. Not only that, but he has to play big when the team needs him too with leadership.

Raymond Felton

The Knicks have been looking for a starting point guard to get things rolling for the last few years. This off-season they have picked up a good point guard in Raymond Felton. Felton joins the Knicks in hopes to help turn things around for a Knicks team that only won 29 games last season. Raymond started preseason playing awful and finished showing why the Knicks picking him up was a good move. This season it will be up to Felton to be a leader and be successful pushing up the ball as well as running the halfcourt. As it stands right now Felton has to prove that he can take over a game not just from a passing stand point, but when the Knicks need him to score too.

Wilson Chandler

Wilson Chandler had a good preseason but did not finish strong. However, last year he had solid season averaging 15 points a game. Wilson Chandler has an advantage at 6’8” playing the shooting guard position. He has a solid mid-range shot, and can drive to the hole. With his ability to guard 4 positions and play 3 positions on offense Chandler currently is the most versatile player on the Knicks roster. In the offseason Chandler worked on his postup game, dribbling, and shooting. This season Chandler will be needed to score more than ever. Wilson will have to be aggressive every game.

Danilo Gallinari

This is the year Danilo Gallinari can show why he was a top draft pick. The Knicks view Danilo Gallinari as a player who has the potential to be a great scorer. Danilo Gallinari is coming off a bad performance in preseason. And now that teams know that Amar’e Stoudemire is the main guy, it will be up to Gallinari to make some baskets when Amar’e Stoudemire is having an off night. Danilo also needs to show that there is more to his game than just shooting. For Danilo Gallinari it will be about scoring by driving, posting up, and using his midrange shot. If Danilo Gallinari can mix it up watch out.

Timofey Mozgov/ Ronny Turiaf

The key for Mozgov is just to play solid defense and to stay out of foul trouble. Mozgov's ability to set picks, block shots, and run up the court can be an asset this season.

The key for Ronny Turiaf will be playing smart basketball and instructing the younger players on where they need to be on the defensive end of the court. What the Knicks need from him is shots blocking, and rebounding.

Anthony Randolph

For Randolph it will be about making smart plays when he is on the court. This season the Knicks need Randolph to be a scorer off the bench as well as get rebounds, an area where the Knicks are slacking. For Randolph to be successful he has to watch his shot selection,

Toney Douglas

Douglas' role will be more important can ever. The Knicks will need him to be the spark plug off the bench. Douglas has the ability to score in quick as well bring great defensive intensity. The key for Douglas is to remain consistent on the defensive and offensive end of the court.

Bill Walker/ Landry Fields

Both players will probably be called upon depending on who the opponent is that day and who is playing the most consistent. They both need to bring good offense by running on the break and shooting from the outside.

Overall if the Knicks are going to be successful:

1) The players have to gel quickly
2) Mike D’Antoni has to coach well by driving home the fact that defense and rebounding is a top priority for every player
3) The team has to find a system and stick to it
4) The team must cut down the number of turnovers and take good shots

My expectation for the 2010-2011 season: 40-42
