Randolph to be traded for a pick? Not so fast PDF Print E-mail
Written by BigC
(Big C) Have you heard the recent news?  According to the Daily News the Knicks are shopping Randolph in hopes to get a number 1 pick.  Rumor has it that the Knicks would use that pick as a bargaining chip to land Carmelo Anthony. Here is what was reported by the Daily News:

WASHINGTON - Anthony Randolph's value to the Knicks can't be measured in points and rebounds. Instead, he could be the guy who gets them Carmelo Anthony.

The Knicks have fielded calls from several Western Conference clubs regarding a deal for Randolph, according to a team source. The most compelling conversations have been with the Houston Rockets, who in one scenario would trade the Knicks the first-round pick they obtained in last year's Tracy McGrady deal.” -New York Daily News

I do not think Anthony Randolph will be traded straight up for a number 1 pick. Knicks president Donnie Walsh thinks very highly of Randolph. In fact when I had an opportunity to speak to Donnie Walsh about Randolph he said, “The league has not seen too many players like him.”

So at this point I feel that if Randolph were to get traded it would have to be a three team deal with Carmelo Anthony and picks included.  It wouldn’t be the Knicks just making a deal to trade Randolph for a pick in hopes to land Carmelo in the future. Despite Randolph having a rough start, he still excels and plays well in Knicks practices. What Randolph  has to do now is show what he does in practice and bring  that same effort in games.

At the end of the day don’t expect Randolph to be traded just for a pick this early in the season. The Knicks are still very high on the 21 year old forward who has potential to be a solid player.
