(Big C) With recent conversations circling around lockout talk I have turned my focus to Knicks superstar Carmelo Anthony. In the past few months Melo has been staying busy off the court. I, along with other media outlets, got a chance to speak to Carmelo Anthony while he was endorsing his new product from Mission---which, by the way, is a hand gel that aims to put an end to players using that messy chalk dust to keep their hands from getting sweaty (say goodbye to the LeBron dust cloud).
During the Q&A session I asked Carmelo Anthony what he has been doing to improve his game. As we know, in the off-season and in some cases during a lockout, players have a tendency to ease up on their conditioning and improving their game. In past you might hear about players being spotted in IHOP, McDonalds, or just clubbing it up instead of working out and training in the gym. This is certainly not the case for Knicks superstar Carmelo Anthony.
When I asked Melo what he has been working on this off-season to, this is what Carmelo Anthony had to say:
“Right now I’m training. Training, training. trying to say fit... I try to stay ahead of the game. I’m just trying to get in the best shape I can. It really wasn’t one [part of his game] thing. I have been working on my whole game. I have been working offensively. I been working out in the post. Also working on the perimeter. My main thing was getting in the best shape that I can, conditioning wise. Working on my stamina, get my body right, drop pounds, drop some weight, I feel really good about myself. In the meantime I’m try to stay well conditioned so when they uplift the lockout I will be ready. I’m getting body tone up”-Carmelo Anthony
So fans, if were worried what shape Melo is in, rest assured Melo is toned up and ready to start the season. He seems determined about and focused on staying fit and improving on his game.
Players who work out on their game, in terms of shooting and scoring, often forget to develop and maintain their stamina. A player can score all they want, but if they don’t have the endurance to play hard for the entire game, they will be too tired to finish the game. If Carmelo Anthony maintains his focus his opponents will need to watch out when the season starts.
