Here is what Carmelo Anthony had to say about playing defense: “At the end of the day I sit here and can answer all the questions about defense, defense, defense. We just have to go out and do it. Defense is about effort and consistency. Boston they did not become the best defensive team over night. I played against Boston when they were supposed to be one of the worst defensive team in the NBA. Now they are greatest defensive team in the NBA. We have a team that can be a great defensive team. We have players that can be great defensive players. And I will lead that charge. I will take that stance and say I am the leader of this team and will this team to where we have to go. At the end of the day we will become a good defensive team. There was no way we were going to do that in 2 months or a month and half. There’s no way we were going to do that. When the season starts the Knicks will be ready.” –Carmelo AnthonyWithout a doubt I feel that Carmelo Anthony can bring that much needed defense back to the Knicks. Last year we saw Carmelo give a strong effort on the defensive end. At certain points during last season Carmelo played defense so well he had fans and spectators wondering how the hell did that nasty rumor ever get started. Many players say they are going to bring defense on the court and when the game starts it’s a whole ‘nother story. So far it looks like Carmelo is serious about playing defense and is excited about shutting his critics up. The good news is, not only does Carmelo Anthony want to play defense for his team, but he wants to be the one to lead that charge.

(Big C) With the NBA lockout finally over Carmelo Anthony sets his eyes not only just having a good season but on playing defense. Last season one of the main criticisms of the Knicks was the lack of defense and effort. Bad defense has been a stigma that has followed the Knicks ever since players like Larry Johnson, Oakley, Camby, Ward, Sprewell, and Ewing, left MSG to play elsewhere. Beside the Knicks having a bad rep for playing defense Knicks superstar Carmelo Anthony has also been labeled in the past for not giving enough effort on the defensive end.
