Stephen Curry has declared for the NBA draft. The big scorer from Davidson who led the NCAA in points with 28.6 points a game feels that he is NBA ready. So what does that mean for the Knicks? I think at this point it is very possible that we could see him in a Knicks uniform come draft night. Especially since Stephen Curry is a pure scorer and can shoot the lights out. Last year Curry played great in the Big East tournament and returned this year to show that he did not miss a step. Many times you hear about a player that has a good shot, but there is more to Curry's game than just his jumpshot. He can take his man off the dribble going both and left and right. In the NBA many rookies as well as veteran players do not know when to pull up for the easy two, or when to take the 3 point shot. Curry is already ahead of the game. What has also gone unnoticed is Stephen Curry's passing ability. He can flat out pass. People have to realize that at Davidson, Stephen was asked to score instead of being the main distributor. In the NBA most teams already have their main go-to-guy therefore this would leave Curry' assignment to play more of the point guard role. I'm not saying Curry is Jason Kidd in the passing department, but he will get the job done. Can you imagine him playing the pick and roll in Mike D'Antoni’s halfcourt offense? My major problem I have with Curry is his defense. I do not think he will be able to cover his man at point guard spot. He may be listed at 6'3 but I think Curry’s real height might be 6'1. He is also not athletic. Curry is also not as quick as other guards. That being said he can still be effective in the NBA. Think about it, he played at Davidson while he was the #1 scorer in the nation. That just doesn’t happen by luck. This means every game teams are trying to stop Curry. Yet he was still able to prevail. We will have to wait and see what number the Knicks will be drafting at, and if Curry will still have high value after his workouts.
