Andre Miller for Chris Duhon In the Works? PDF Print E-mail

Chris Duhon

It looks like Chris Duhon could be playing in a Sixers uniform. Well at least that is the last rumor out of Philadelphia. According to the Phillyburbs.com

Chris Duhon's agent Kevin Bradbury is trying to find a way so his clent Chris Duhon will be playing in Philly while point guard Andre Miller comes to the "Big Apple." Here is what was reported by the Phillyburbs.com:

"A potential sign-and-trade would bring Chris Duhon to Philadelphia and land free agent Andre Miller in New York.

Now that the Knicks are apparently interested in veteran point guard Andre Miller, a source close to the situation said Kevin Bradbury, the agent for New York point guard Chris Duhon, "is exploring the possibility" of a sign-and-trade involving Duhon and Miller.

The Sixers are apparently asking for more than Duhon, a solid point guard who will make $6 million in the final year of his contract. That could mean the Sixers want a draft pick, too.

The most the Knicks could offer Miller, who made $10 million last season, without a sign-and-trade would be the mid-level exception of $5.85 million. In a sign-and-trade for Duhon, they could give Miller as much as $7.6 million (125 percent of Duhon's salary, plus $100,000). Miller and agent Andy Miller were asking for three years and $30 million." Read More

Like I wrote months ago I would love to have Andre Miller on this team for the right price. It is clear by the Knicks going after Jason Kidd that they have no interest in resigning Chris Duhon for the 2010 season.  I think Andre Miller would be a good replacement for Chris Duhon who ran out of gas at the end of the season. It is clear that Chris Duhon preferred coming off the bench. The Knicks right now need a starting point guard why not Andre Miller for the right price?

If the Knicks do not resign David Lee and Nate Robinson the Knicks should look to sign Miller for a 1 year deal (unlikely) or sign Miller for a deal that starts low in the price range and gives the Knicks enough room to sign solid players in 2010.

Andre Miller is a point guard that can play defense and score on the offensive end. He is also a guard that can rebound, get steals, as well as a player that knows when to take the big shot and when make the great assist. Andre Miller is a point guard that shoots about 47% from the field. Miller is not just a guy that runs up the court jacking up shots. He is a player who drives and looks for the easy two. Donnie Walsh is looking to put his stamp on this team why not start in the backcourt. At age 33 Andre Miller last season was still able to get 21 points, 6.3 rebounds, and 5.3 assists. Miller is a big guard that can get rebounds that can lead to a fastbreak. Plus he is a solid point guard that the Knicks can have for the next few years.
