The Knicks Draft The Rooster Danilo Gallinari

If you missed it last night Donny Walsh and the New York Knicks have selected Danilo Gallinari. The 19 year old player from Europe is now a New York Knick. When the pick was announced in the packed Garden fans greeted the Big Rooster with a the normal welcome to New York shower with boos. Gallinari received more boos than Reggie Miller when he did the choke sign to Spike Lee. With countless number of boos Danilo Gallnari handled himself well. Danilo Gallnari was a small forward for his last team. However it is rumored that he will be playing the power forward spot. There are questions about Gallinari rebounding. Keep in mind there is time to grow for the young rookie.

Many Knick fans were expecting the Knicks to draft a guard. Either Bayless or Eric Gordon were the fans' choice. However the Knicks were looking for outside shooting at the forward spot. From clips of Gallinari he looks like he can take it to the hole using his left or right hand which is something that you normally see with guards. However, the Big Rooster (which is Gallinari's nickname) looks like he has the ability to take his man off the dribble as well as shoot. Was this a good pick? We will not know until the season starts. I would have loved for the Knicks to have gotten a point guard. However, the offseason is not over and there are free agents out there to go along with the newly acquired outside shooter Danilo Gallinari.
