It might have been a blessing in disguise that Cuttino Mobley was traded to the Knicks. If you have not heard the news Cuttino Mobley has retired because of having heart issues. A few weeks ago Mobley and teammate Tim Thomas were traded to the Knicks for Zach Randolph. The trade sounded good for the most part except for Cuttino Mobley who did not pass his physical, which stopped him from playing as a Knick.
Most people thought how could this be possible since Mobley has played all these years with no problem. The difference is the Knicks were not going to take a risk with a player with a bad heart playing on the court. With the Knicks doctors identifying Mobley’s heart condition and the seriousness of it this prevented Mobley playing with a condition that may cause death. Basketball is one thing, but losing your life just to play a sport is an entirely different story. If Mobley was not traded to the Knicks who knows how this chapter would have ended. Many of us remember what happened to Hank Gathers who lost his life on the court. Because the Knicks and Mobley are complying with the medical advice he was given Mobley is able to retire in good spirits and spend time with his wife and children.Add a comment
Time to make Al Harrrington the go to guy. With the Knicks recent trades, removing Jamal Crawford and Zach Randolph, it is clear that the Knicks need a number one option. I think that Al Harrington is that guy. Harrington has had some good games where he has scored 39, 28, 18, 27, 20, and a 16 point game. Harrington is becoming a force on the offensive end. He may not have the post moves of Zach Randolph or the one-on-one moves of a Jamal Crawford but Harrington does have an offensive game.
Harrington can play both forward position and has knack to score around the rim. If he is not dunking the ball or tipping the ball in he is going up hard with the best of them. Harrington can drive left and right off the dribble which makes it tough for opponents to guard him. Plus he has a midrange shot. He is also a player that you do not want to leave open from 3 point range or he will make you pay. The bottom line is Harrington needs more shot attempts. Almost every night Harrington has the advantage in the low box or taking his opponent on the outside. The main problem now with Harrington is he has to know when to take over when the team really needs him. Another problem with Al Harrington is conditioning. I feel once he gets in game shape and use to playing big minutes he will add another dimension in the Mike D’Antoni offense.Add a comment
The Marbury situation is out of control. But really who is to blame? Stephon Marbury or Mike D’Antoni? I think you have to look at both parties. First you have Mike D’Antoni who said he is not going to play Marbury because the team is so-called going in another direction. The belief was that Marbury was not going to playing because Mike D’Antoni was going to play the young players because they were the future of the Knicks. Now let’s go back to when the Knicks first got Donnie Walsh and Mike D’Antoni.
Marbury was told that if he got in shape during the summer and proved that he wanted to be part of the team he would be part of the Knicks. Then when the Knicks signed Chris Duhon there was a rumor that Duhon would be the starting point guard for the Knicks. The Knicks denied that rumor saying nothing was written in stone and Marbury would still have a chance to start. Meanwhile Marbury continued working on his game to prove that he could start on the Knicks team or at least be traded. Then you have training camp when Mike D’Antoni and Walsh said Marbury looked great. Marbury even gets a chance to play in preseason and plays well and out plays Duhon. No problem. Mike D’Antoni all of a sudden decides despite Marbury’s conditioning he is too much of a cancer to the team to play him. So not only is Marbury not allowed to play for the season but he is banned from practice. Yes, practice. We already we have heard of teams isolating players so what is the big deal rightAdd a comment
Oh boy, if you haven’t heard Plaxico Burress is back in the news. Not from catching a touchdown pass but from shooting himself in the leg. A few weeks ago he did not report to Giants practice because of domestic problems. Plaxico now finds himself getting shot by himself at a club. I will say it again Plaxico Burress according to different news outlets shot himself by accident in the leg. How silly can an individual get to be at a club and shoot themselves in the leg? I guess he was tired of the music selection by the D.J and thought showing off his gun was more fun? You have to ask yourself why did he have a gun in the first place? Isn’t that what bodyguards for superstars are for? Second of all, if you don’t know how to use a gun don’t. What happened to having the gun on safety? He is lucky he did not get shot in the butt and have sitting problems for the rest of his life. Or be paralyzed.
People wondered why the Steelers let him go years ago when he is so talented. Now you know why. In this day and age many athletes are targets by robbers for their cash and jewelry. So there is nothing wrong with getting protection. The problem is how a person goes about to get it. In many states a person has the right to carry firearms, however in New York it is against the law. So one has to make a choice between either paying for bodyguards or risk the chance of getting sentenced in prison for carrying an unregistered firearm. For any athlete it is better to pay for bodyguards if you feel you are a target or just stay out of the spotlight. The reason is, if you are caught with an unregistered firearm you could risk your career and get a fast trip to prison and I am not talking a guest appearance on Prison Break or a vacation at Club Fed. Plaxico’s only hope now is that people forget about this case and he wins in court. The worst case scenario is he finds himself locked up for 3 years and blacked balled from the NFL.Add a comment
This is one of the funniest dunks I have seen. Not only did Tim Thomas dunk on Anthony Randolph hard but he made Don Nelson take Randolph out of the game. To makes things worse if you look at the highlights it looks like Randoph wants to cry.
