So far the Knicks in Preseason PDF Print E-mail
Written by BigC

So far the Knicks look like they will not be as bad as they were last year. With two pre-season games the players look like they will do their best to if not win games, at least put in 100% when they are on the court. The starting lineup for the first two games has been the lineup up Chris Duhon, Jamal Crawford, Quentin Richardson
, Zach Randolph and David Lee.  With Stephon Marbury, Nate Robinson, Wilson Chandler, Malik Rose, and Mardy Collins all coming off the bench.

Let me first start off with the starters.

Chris Duhon

Chris Duhon started off the first game looking like he could not run a pick up game on a high school team.  However, in the 76ers game  Duhon looked like the player Mike D'Antoni has been talking about. On the defensive end Duhon was playing defense and drawing charges.  Mike D'Antoni's philosophy of “If you’re open, shoot it,” seems to be working. Every shot that Duhon took that was available to him was knocked down. Not to mention Duhon was driving to the hole. If Duhon can knock down the open shot this will force his man to stay home.

Jamal Crawford

Jamal Crawford had a decent game shooting 50%, getting 3 assists, and 1 steal.  Overall good game but not explosive like fans were expecting. Jamal took the shots that were available to him  and did not force the issue. As long as Jamal Crawford drives more during the season he will improve the backcourt.  This season has to be the season that Jamal Crawford is more aggressive driving to the lane. Especially for a guy that shot 87% at the foul line last year.

Quentin Richardson

It looks like Q Rich will never get a break.  Last night Q got limited playing time because of the injury bug again. The good news is Q will be playing the next game. The bad news  is he might be in jeopardy of losing his starting spot if he keeps on getting injured or if Wilson Chandler keeps on out playing him.

Zach Randolph

What can I say but Zach is balling. Zach in the two games has looked like the player that played on the Blazers team. You name it Zach is doing it on the offensive end. Just when people were wondering If he would be able to fit into Mike D’Antoni’s system Zach is looking like a force to be reckoned with. From his outside shot from the baseline to the midrange shot, Zach is putting in work. In the low box there are few  players that can contain this left handed player that takes it inside and outside.  Zach looks like he is ready for the season. He also provides good rebounding that can be deadly with the run and gun game.

David Lee

Lee is showing the fans and the Knicks organization that he wants to be a Knick. The knock on Lee is he cannot shoot. But with the few preseason games it looks like Lee has improved his outside touch. If Lee can shoot with this stroke in the regular season opponents will have a rough day with Mr. Lee. He not only works hard on the boards, like some of the best rebounders in the league, and if his shot is there--watch out.

Nate Robinson

Nate looks like he never missed a beat from last season where Nate had a good year. His ability to push the ball and drive to the lane is just what Mike D was looking for. In the open court is there anyone that can stop Nate? Look for Nate to flourish with coach Mike D’Antoni.

Stephon Marbury
At first, people thought there was no way Marbury would except coming off the bench but Marbury has announced that he does not have a problem coming off the bench. So far Marbury looks ready to play. He has been driving like his old self and taking good shots. If Duhon slips look for Marbury to get back his starting position. The question is can Marbury be happy coming off the bench for the season?

Wilson Chandler

If Isiah did some things right one of them has to be drafting Wilson Chandler. The guy looks like he will be a force at the small forward position. With few players on the Knicks roster that can play both ends of the court Wilson looks like the two way player the Knicks have been looking for. He can score in the post, drive to the lane, rebound, block shots, get steals, and take his man off the dribble. The future looks bright for Wilson in a Knicks uniform.

Malik Rose

All I have to say is please get a clipboard for Malik. He should intern to become an assistant coach. Rose services are not needed on the court. He is a good guy but I don’t think he is a player the Knicks need right now. The good news is his contract will be expiring at the end of the season.

Mardy Collins

Mardy looked good for the one game that he did get playing time. Mardy looks like the weight lost will help him with the run and gun style of play. The only problem is with Duhon and Marbury getting major playing time there probably will be no room for Duhon to get playing time.

Curry

Curry did not play but the rumor is he is out of shape. We will see what he has to offer when he does get playing time.
