It looks like Marbury will be going nowhere fast. According to ESPN Marbury will not bebought out by the Knicks. This is no surprise since Knicks owner James Dolan is not buying out anyone at this point. After Dolan spent money buying out numerous players plus paying coacheslike Larry and Isiah Thomas money after their termination. It is clear that James Dolan's wallet is being put on the shelf. So what do we know so far? Well we know that Mike D'Antonihas no plans on playing Marbury for the rest of the season. And we also know that Marbury will not take a pay cut buyout. One has to wonder if there is something else to this story. There are a few reasons that I feel why Marbury is not playing;
1. Mike D’Antoni is still holding a grudge against Marbury since Marbury’s Suns Days and wants no part of Marbury. 2. Marbury and D’Antoni had an encounter before the season started that has not gotten out to the press.
3. Marbury reputation with players and coaches is so bad that Mike D’Antoni wants to get rid of the Knicks star before he even gets a chance to touch the court.
4. James Dolan told Mike D’Antoni to not play Marbury because the Knicks want to turn the page oneverything negative from the Isiah Era.
5. Marbury told Mike D’Antoni if he is not going to play him let him be on the injured list.
Whatever the reason is Marbury will be getting paid $21,937,500 to sit on the bench. Now there are some players that would love to sit on the bench to do nothing. The only problem is Marbury is in his contract year can not be picked up unless the Knicks cut him. Marbury worked out this summer toshow the league that he still has game. I guess has to change his plans to become Jerome James best friend at the end of the bench. So if you are a Marbury fan be prepared to watchMarbury on the bench for the rest of the year. With Marbury being benched thiswill put pressure on Chris Duhon to have the year of his life. If not Knick fans will be coming with their “We want Marbury” chants.
It's going to be a cool season for Marbury on the bench.
