Roger Mason Jr. is a 6’5 guard that can play the point and shooting guard positions. On the Knicks he will most likely play the back up point guard position. I expect Mason and second year player Toney Douglas to compete for the backup point guard position. So what can we expect from Roger Mason Jr.? Here is the run down.
Roger Mason on the other hand is a smart player that does exactly what the coach asks him to do. Beside having good ball control he is an excellent passer. It’s very rare that you will see Mason lose control of the ball or make ill advised passes.
Good decision making is what any team needs from a veteran player like him. The best skill is being able to knock down the 3 point shot. Mason is one of the league’s best shooters. So on nights that the Knicks are looking to get back into games you can expect to see him on the court with Danilo Gallinari to bring the team back. There are only a select few players in this league who can be described as clutch players. Whether they are bench players or superstars, many players find it difficult to deliver in pressure situations. This is why Mason is a big deal. In the past he has won big games for the former champion Spurs. He is a lock defender who is good at getting on his opponents last nerve. He is also good at running the break and finishing.
At the end of the day this is good signing at 1.4 million for one year.
